I went and opened my own fic journal. I felt it was time, especially since written works have been slowly piling up on my jump drive. I'm slowly going through and editing some of my older stuff, to see if I can bear to look at it or not.

Summary: The Doctor invites Sally Sparrow on a trip back in time to introduce her to her famous pirate ancestor. Unfortunately, troublesome people and the penchant for finding trouble anywhere in time is not a good match. A Doctor Who - Pirates of the Caribbean crossover.
Disclaimer: If I owned Doctor Who, there would have been a lot more Mickey Smith. If I owned PotC, there would have been a lot more of... well, everyone British and stuffy. Sadly, this is reality.
A/N: Working title. This is an idea that has been tossed in and out of my head for quite a little while now. Nearly ten pages of notes later, as well lots of research on the Golden Age of Piracy, and nearly annoying all my friends into not talking to me by repeatedly asking their opinion, it takes form! In my mind, this is set after a few years after At World's End, and in the fourth series of Doctor Who, after Astrid but before Donna. I hope the actual airing of the fourth series doesn't negate that for me! Like Pirates of the Caribbean itself, this is not meant to be a great literary (or cinematic) masterpiece, so forgive me in advance for any silliness.

Okay. I've had a crappy summer. I've been working all the time, I've barely seen my mom/friends/cat. It doesn't feel right - especially just being out of high school. I feel like I'm supposed to be partying or camping going on road trips or something, and yet I haven't even gone swimming in the pool my mom purchased. I want to do something fantastic. So! Okay, I guess I need to pay homage to my favourite twins (sorry Connor and Jake!) in a different way. But this Marauders layout is incredibly cool too.

Okay, in my search for a Fred and George layout, I found this. If you're viewing me on your f-list, mosey on over to my LJ and take a look-see. It's nice enough, I'm happy with it but the header shifts over to the right a bit and it makes the page look uneven. As well, I'm not sure the links up at the top are where they should be and there's that big ugly space between the header and the entries. I'd ask the person who made it but the LJ itself is on hiatus and she has not answered a comment in the troubleshooting post since 2005. Any HTML or CSS savvy friends of mine got any helpful suggestions?

A small recap for those not in the know: Dua Khalil was a seventeen year old girl who was stoned to death by her community - while others watched and recorded - for being in the company of a man not in the same religious denomination as her. The video is probably on YouTube.

For those in my f-list who are Buffy, Angel, or Firefly fans, you are or have been a Joss Whedon fangirl. In honour of that I post these links - this one for the sheer atrocity of the act and the wonderfulness of Joss Whedon.

He has inspired an anthology of which I am intending to participate and in which I urge the creative people in my f-list to do. The money made from the sale of the anthology is going to Equality Now, a wonderful charity supported by Joss Whedon and many of the people he has worked with.

This issue hits well with me because I have been a victim of a crime against the "weaker" sex, and if I had the chance to fight back then, I would have. And I don't think that such a motive is required to realise the amount of hatred and misogyny in the world that needs to be fought against. I may accomplish nothing with this entry but I feel that in posting it, I can absolve some of the guilt for not fighting back or being able to take a stand.

And if my little words aren't enough, listen to the man himself.
